Moldova is advancing its European integration efforts, with EU Commissioner Marta Kos describing the country as a 'best performer' among current candidates, alongside Montenegro, Albania, and Ukraine. Prime Minister Vasile Tofan, speaking at the UN General Assembly, emphasized Moldova's sovereignty and called for the unconditional withdrawal of Russian troops from Transnistria.

Regarding economic integration, National Bank Governor Anca Dragu noted that adopting the euro could offer significant benefits, such as reduced transaction costs, though it remains a political decision dependent on meeting convergence criteria. Tofan expressed ambitions to sign an EU accession treaty by 2028, with the goal of full membership by 2030.

Additionally, Moldova is positioning itself as a strategic regional hub. Tofan suggested the country could serve as a platform for American investments and the future reconstruction of Ukraine, leveraging its proximity to the EU markets.
