Moldova man sentenced to 10 years for attacking neighbor with heated iron

A 31-year-old man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for robbery and intentional medium bodily harm following a violent dispute with his neighbor in Moldova. The incident occurred on the evening of February 13, 2026.

According to the General Prosecutor's Office, the perpetrator was intoxicated and angry over a water leak in his apartment, which he believed was caused by a malfunctioning water tank in the neighbor's residence. The man confronted his neighbor and a guest, whom he held responsible for the damage, demanding money for repairs.

The situation escalated when the attacker returned with a heated iron. He repeatedly struck the guest, causing burns to various parts of the body, including the face, while allegedly threatening the victim by stating he would show him ‘what the 90s meant’. When the neighbor attempted to intervene and protect his guest, the attacker also assaulted him with the heated iron. Both victims sustained injuries classified by forensic experts as medium bodily harm. Despite the proceedings, the defendant did not admit guilt.
