The Moldovan Ministry of Education and Research has launched a modernization initiative for school transport by purchasing 57 new minibuses. The investment, totaling approximately 67.22 million lei, is intended to improve access to education for children, particularly those in rural areas.

The vehicles will be distributed across 30 districts, municipalities, and the Gagauzia region. A first batch of 38 minibuses was distributed on August 21. Key recipients include Florești and Ocnița districts, which will each receive five units, followed by Cahul with four, and Cantemir, Edineț, Leova, and Ștefan Vodă with three each.

Each 17-seat minibus is equipped with safety features including seat belts, first aid kits, fire extinguishers, and specialized security and signaling systems. The vehicles also feature reflective markings and light boxes labeled ‘Transport elevi’ (Student Transport) for high visibility. The minibuses are provided to local educational authorities free of charge, with local councils responsible for their maintenance and use.
