Moldova National Army introduces polygraph testing for personnel

The Moldovan Ministry of Defense has announced the introduction of polygraph testing for military personnel and employees with access to classified information. Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatîi stated that the measure is intended to prevent information leaks and strengthen institutional security.

To implement these new procedures, the ministry has modified relevant legislation, trained specialized personnel, and purchased the necessary equipment. The decision follows concerns regarding external intelligence interests, with Nosatîi noting that Russia continues to show high interest in the state structures of the Republic of Moldova.

In addition to the polygraph testing, personnel have undergone information sessions regarding security risks and their obligations under Law No. 245 concerning state secrets. The polygraph will serve as a supplementary verification tool by monitoring physiological responses such as pulse, respiration, and perspiration during questioning.
