Moldova Deploys 500 New Teachers and Opens First Law Faculty at Technical University

More than 500 recent graduates in pedagogy are scheduled to begin teaching in Moldovan schools on 1 September 2026. The figures were announced by interim Education and Research Minister Dan Perciun after the first round of placement applications, and the ministry said it will contact any graduates who have not yet been assigned to a school.

The Technical University of Moldova (UTM) will establish a new Faculty of Law in Chișinău and Cahul, with rector Viorel Bostan signing the founding order on 1 July 2026 and classes slated to start in the autumn. The move follows a series of institutional reforms and a controversial amendment to the education law that allows Bostan to seek a third term as rector, drawing criticism from opposition politicians.

These developments reflect a broader push by Moldovan authorities to expand both the teaching workforce and higher‑education offerings.
