Moldova Parliament approves new land redistribution and registration rules

The Moldovan Parliament has approved final readings of amendments to the Law on the Cadastre of Immovable Property. These changes modify the rules for land redistribution and registration, particularly regarding land created for infrastructure or social objectives. Under the new provisions, such land will automatically transfer to the public property of local administrative-territorial units.

The new procedure allows any owner to submit a registration request, provided it is filed simultaneously for all involved land parcels. Each new parcel will be assigned a unique cadastral number, while existing numbers will remain unchanged. Additionally, the Agency of Geodesy, Cartography, and Cadastre will be granted the authority to establish procedures for cadastral works and the preparation of necessary documentation.

The legislation also addresses land created for the needs of other immovable assets, such as access roads and recreational areas. This aims to resolve existing difficulties in maintaining the cadastre and exercising the rights of co-owners. The amendments are set to enter into force one month after their official publication.
