Moldova places five Uzbek nationals in public custody ahead of deportation

Five citizens of Uzbekistan who were working illegally in the Republic of Moldova were placed in public custody for 30 days by the General Inspectorate for Migration. The detention, carried out at the temporary placement centre for foreigners, followed their refusal to comply with voluntary return orders issued by the migration authority.

The measure was ordered on 4 August by the Cahul Court. After the custody period the individuals face expulsion from Moldova and a three‑year ban on re‑entry.
