Moldova plans restructuring to address strategic project delays

Moldovan Finance Minister Victoria Belous has announced plans to restructure the management of state strategic projects following years of significant delays and inefficient results. Belous noted that current implementation units have failed to justify the public funds allocated to them, citing the decade-long delay in constructing a new penitentiary in Chișinău as a primary example.

The Minister stated that despite ten years of funding, the penitentiary remains a project on paper rather than a completed investment. To address these systemic issues, the government proposes creating a new centralized structure that would merge several existing implementation units responsible for sectors such as health and justice. The goal is to improve efficiency and prevent the same officials from overseeing delayed projects indefinitely.
