Moldova Plans to End Local Tax Exemption for Funeral Services

The Moldovan government’s tax‑simplification project proposes to repeal paragraph g) of article 295 of the Fiscal Code, which currently exempts funeral service providers and companies that manufacture coffins, crowns and other funeral articles from local commercial taxes. If adopted, these businesses would lose the exemption on local tax payments for their commercial premises and services.

The change is part of a broader effort to streamline fiscal and customs legislation, and it could increase operating costs for the funeral sector across the country.
