Romania and Moldova weather updates and seasonal time change
Romania and Moldova are experiencing transitional weather patterns as September ends. In Romania, the National Meteorological Administration (ANM) has issued several warnings, including a Yellow Code for strong winds in ten counties across Moldova, Muntenia, and Dobrogea, with gusts potentially reaching 70 km/h. Temperatures are expected to fluctuate, with warmer conditions in the west and south-west, followed by a gradual cooling and increased precipitation as October approaches.
In Moldova, the forecast indicates a warm and predominantly dry period with temperatures ranging between 17 and 22 degrees Celsius, though mornings are becoming cooler. No significant precipitation is expected in the immediate term.
Regarding seasonal time changes, Romania is scheduled to transition to winter time on the night of October 24-25, 2026. While the European Parliament voted in 2019 to abolish seasonal clock changes, the proposal has not yet become law due to a lack of consensus within the EU Council. A study for the European Commission continues to analyze the impacts of permanent summer or standard time.
