Moldova PM calls for crackdown on insolvency administrators
Moldovan Prime Minister Vasile Tofan has called for a crackdown on insolvency administrators, accusing some members of the profession of turning it into a predatory business. Tofan characterized certain individuals as a 'caste of untouchables' who exploit companies and families for profit.
According to the Prime Minister, disciplinary actions in this sector have increased recently. He noted that while no sanctions were issued in 2022, two warnings were issued in 2024, followed by five recent sanctions that included the revocation of licenses. Tofan urged Justice Minister Vladislav Cojuhari to continue these cleaning efforts despite potential pushback from those affected.
The Union of Authorized Administrators in Moldova (UAAM) responded to the Prime Minister's comments, stating that while illegal acts must be investigated and punished, individual responsibility should not be replaced by the 'collective guilt' of an entire profession necessary for the economy.
