Moldova police seize illegal aesthetic products worth millions

Moldovan authorities have seized illegal aesthetic products valued at over three million lei following raids on medical centers, beauty salons, and various private and legal entities. The investigation, conducted by the National Investigation Inspectorate and prosecutors, uncovered prohibited substances including botulinum toxin and exosomes of human and animal origin, which are banned in both Moldova and the European Union.

In addition to the medical products, law enforcement officials seized over two million lei in unaccounted cash, handwritten notes, and documents suggesting the use of double-entry bookkeeping. Electronic devices containing relevant communications were also confiscated. The raids targeted service providers in Chișinău and other localities, some of which were operating without the necessary permits to perform medical or aesthetic procedures.

Police have warned that using unauthorized or unverified products poses significant health risks, including severe adverse reactions and complications. The investigation is ongoing to determine the full import, distribution, and commercialization circuits, as well as the origin of the funds and the involvement of all parties.
