Moldova postpones VAT on international online shopping to November 1

Moldovan Finance Minister Victoria Belous has announced that the implementation of VAT on purchases made through international online platforms has been postponed to November 1.

The original start date of October 1 was pushed back by one month following consultations with the business community and postal operators. The delay is intended to provide economic operators sufficient time to adjust their IT systems to ensure seamless integration with the Customs Service and international digital platforms.

Authorities are currently evaluating two methods for VAT collection: either at the moment the purchase is completed or when the recipient collects the package. The government has ruled out a further delay until January 1.
