Moldova prepares for potential new waves of Ukrainian refugees
Moldova is preparing for potential new waves of refugees from Ukraine, particularly if the neighboring country faces a difficult winter. During the third Moldova Security Forum in Chișinău, President Maia Sandu stated that the country is ready to receive additional displaced persons.
In support of long-term integration, Moldovan companies are increasingly viewing refugee inclusion as a social responsibility. For instance, the company BPM PC Strand has committed to providing professional integration and employment opportunities for Ukrainian refugees. This initiative is supported by the National Congress of Ukrainians in Moldova (NCUM) and the UNHCR.
Legal frameworks, such as the temporary protection regime extended until March 2027, continue to provide refugees in Moldova with legal access to the labor market, facilitating their transition into stable employment with equal working conditions and wages.
