Moldova deputy proposes doubling youth cultural voucher and adding sports

Maxim Potîrniche, a deputy from the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), has proposed an initiative to double the value of the cultural voucher provided to young people upon turning 18. The proposed increase would raise the amount from 1,000 lei to 2,000 lei.

The initiative also seeks to expand the voucher's usage to include sports. Rather than splitting the funds into fixed categories, the proposal allows beneficiaries to decide how to spend the total amount. Eligible sports-related expenses could include service fees such as training sessions or gym memberships, sports equipment like running shoes or tennis rackets, and access to sporting events and competitions.

The voucher remains valid for 12 months from the recipient's 18th birthday. The proposal aims to reduce financial barriers to sports, particularly for youth in rural areas and those with disabilities. Public consultations regarding the project are scheduled to begin on October 5 at the Parliament.
