Moldova pushes sustainable‑finance legislation and secures new development funding

Moldova’s government is advancing a legislative framework aimed at developing sustainable finance. The plan accompanies several international financing initiatives: China has already provided more than €54 million in support, the World Bank is set to fund a new project called “Shield,” and the European Investment Bank will grant additional resources. The Ministry of Finance presented a draft programme to promote green investments, while the National Commission of the Financial Market is overseeing related regulatory steps. Concurrently, Moldova is modernising public services, including digitising its visa system and expanding cooperation with the European Union on fiscal and energy reforms. These measures are intended to boost foreign direct investment, modernise the economy and align the country with EU standards.
