Moldova receives €50‑million EIB loan to upgrade schools and hospitals

The European Investment Bank is providing Moldova with a loan of about €40‑50 million, complemented by an EU grant of €3.5 million for schools and a separate €10 million grant for hospitals. The combined investment of roughly €51.5 million will modernise 20 schools, improving energy efficiency, safety and learning conditions for around 40,000 pupils, and will upgrade ten public hospitals with better insulation, heating, ventilation and renewable‑energy solutions.

Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and Education Minister Dan Perciun said the financing reflects growing partnership with the European Union and will help Moldova align its education infrastructure with EU standards. The projects are part of a broader reform agenda aimed at strengthening public services and supporting the country’s EU integration path.
