Moldova records 57 extraditions in first half of 2026

The General Police Inspectorate of the Republic of Moldova reported that, since the start of 2026, a total of 57 people have been extradited in cooperation with law‑enforcement authorities of partner states. Of those, 51 individuals were brought to Moldova from abroad and six were sent from Moldova to other countries. The majority of the removals originated from Germany (11 cases), followed by Poland (10), Italy (9), the Czech Republic (6) and Austria (3). Most of the extradited persons were men (54) and the offenses most frequently cited were drug‑related crimes, robbery, fraud, homicide, human‑trafficking and theft.

The IGP emphasized that the continued international collaboration aims to locate, detain and bring to justice those attempting to evade criminal responsibility, thereby enhancing public safety and combating trans‑border crime.
