Moldova records 76,000 border crossings, grants 3,700 work permits

In the past 24 hours, Moldova's border police reported 76,456 person entries and 13,069 vehicle crossings. The busiest points were Chișinău International Airport (25,723 persons), Leușeni (7,962), Sculeni (6,776), Palanca (6,300) and Giurgiulești (5,144). Authorities denied entry to 15 foreign nationals and recorded multiple violations, including illegal transport of goods, unlawful border crossings, use of false documents and breaches of stay regulations. Police advised travelers to use alternative routes to reduce congestion.

During the same period, about 3,700 foreigners obtained six‑month work permits in Moldova, alongside 114 residence permits. Officials also expelled 104 individuals for breaching residence rules. Nepali citizens formed the largest group among new workers, with 1,110 permits issued. The data reflects ongoing migration and labour‑market dynamics affecting the country.
