Moldova records nearly 60 million lei in rental tax revenue for first half of 2026

The Moldovan State Budget received 58.9 million lei in income tax from individuals renting out apartments and other real estate between January and June 2026, a rise of 31.9 % compared with the same period a year earlier. During the first six months, 19,229 lease contracts were registered, with about 13,600 of them filed in the capital, Chișinău.

Fiscal inspections identified 460 landlords who had not registered their rental contracts. Follow‑up checks on 285 property owners resulted in additional tax obligations, late‑payment penalties and fines totaling over 400,000 lei. The rental income tax is set at 7 % of the monthly contract value, payable by the 25th of each month, and late payments may incur a fine of up to 200 lei plus daily interest.
