Moldova sets new water tariffs and launches village water‑treatment contest

The National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) has published draft tariffs for water and sewage services in Strășeni. The proposed water price would drop to 20.03 lei per cubic metre, 0.70 lei lower than the current rate, while the sewage charge would rise to 13.41 lei per cubic metre, an increase of 2.40 lei. The local operator, S.A. Apă‑Canal Strășeni, had asked for much higher rates — up to 32.66 lei for water (+57.6 %) and 20.38 lei for sewage (+85 %). ANRE accepted lower cost components and set the regulated income at 16.93 million lei.

Separately, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development (MIDR) announced a competition for Moldovan localities to receive modern Q‑DROP Yellowstone water‑treatment units. The contest, financed by a loan agreement between Moldova and Belgium, invites applications from 27 July to 28 August 2026. Selected communities will obtain systems capable of treating up to 500 litres of water per hour, improving access to safe drinking water.
