Moldova strengthens diplomatic ties with US and Latvia
Moldovan President Maia Sandu met with a delegation from the United States Congress to discuss regional security, hybrid threats, and the country's European integration path. The US delegation was led by Representative Tom Cole, Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, and Representative Rosa DeLauro. Sandu highlighted the impact of American assistance on Moldova's energy security and democratic institutions, specifically citing a $130 million grant that funded the Strășeni–Gutinaș high-voltage power line.
In separate diplomatic engagements, Moldovan State Secretary of Foreign Affairs Carolina Perebinos met with a delegation to discuss strategic partnerships. Additionally, Perebinos held discussions with Juris Poikāns, the new political director of the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations between Moldova and Latvia and supporting Moldova's progress toward European Union membership.
