Moldova to add 24 musical instruments to national collection
The Organ Hall in Chișinău will expand the National Collection of Musical Instruments of the Republic of Moldova with the acquisition of 24 string instruments. The purchase, valued at 324,000 euros, includes 15 violins, four violas, four cellos, and one double bass.
Following a legislative initiative by MP Liliana Nicolaescu-Onofrei, the instruments will be exempt from fiscal and customs duties upon import. This exemption is expected to save 54,000 euros in public funds. The instruments, crafted by established luthiers from Romania and internationally, are intended for use by the National Chamber Orchestra to ensure professional performance standards.
The acquisition is viewed as an investment in national cultural heritage, as these high-quality instruments are expected to increase in value over time. The new additions will be officially recorded in the accounting records of the Organ Hall and used exclusively for cultural purposes.
