Moldova to implement 20% VAT on foreign online orders

VAT implementation trade deficit e-commerce taxation import imbalance cross-border shopping

Starting October 1, 2026, Moldova will implement a 20% VAT on online orders from foreign platforms, such as Temu, Shein, and AliExpress, for packages valued up to 150 euros. Additionally, a processing fee of 12 lei will be applied to each parcel.

Finance Minister Victoria Belous stated that the objective of these measures is not to halt e-commerce activity.
