Moldova and Romania launch new energy efficiency and subsidy programs

Moldova and Romania are implementing new energy initiatives to promote efficiency and sustainability. In Moldova, the government announced a new round of the ‘Casa Verde’ (Green House) program starting this autumn. Managed by the National Agency for Sustainable Energy, the program provides subsidies covering up to 50% of investment costs (up to 200,000 lei) for home energy efficiency improvements, such as thermal insulation, window replacement, solar panels, or heat pumps.

In Romania, the government has launched a financing initiative for prosumers, offering 15,000 lei for the purchase of energy storage batteries to maximize the efficiency of solar systems. Additionally, the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) has approved a new mechanism allowing eligible consumers to earn money by voluntarily reducing their electricity consumption during periods when the national energy system requires flexibility. This voluntary service, coordinated by Transelectrica, allows consumers to participate in auctions to provide demand-side flexibility, with payments based on verified reductions in usage.
