Moldova updates postal and customs rules for e-commerce
Moldova is implementing new postal shipment regulations to align national procedures with European Union customs standards. The changes include a new taxation mechanism for goods purchased via international e-commerce platforms.
Under the new rules, international shipments may be temporarily stored for up to 90 days. Postal operators will be required to register, store, and transmit status information to customs authorities. The project establishes specific categories for imports based on value: non-taxable correspondence, goods up to 150 euros, goods between 150.01 and 1,000 euros, and goods exceeding 1,000 euros. Export categories will also be defined based on value and content, with specific customs declarations required for different tiers of goods.
