Moldova Secures EU Funding, Air Defence Aid and Reform Progress

The Moldovan government has asked the European Union to release the third tranche of its Reform and Growth Mechanism, amounting to €191.5 million, of which about €157 million would be transferred after a favourable Commission assessment. The request follows the implementation of 18 of the 20 reform measures required for the 2025‑2027 Growth Plan, covering energy security, digital public services, anti‑corruption, environmental protection and support for SMEs.

The EU Council has announced a €120 million contribution from the European Peace Facility to fund a medium‑range air‑defence system for the Moldovan Armed Forces, bringing total EU assistance to Moldova to €317 million.

The Council of Europe reported that 73 % of the cases under the supervision of its Committee of Ministers have been closed, while noting continued work on prison conditions, judicial reforms and anti‑corruption measures.

Acting Prime Minister Eugeniu Osmochescu will travel to Brussels to take part in the intergovernmental conference that launches negotiations on EU accession Cluster 6 (external relations).
