Moldova warns taxi companies over 303 million lei in tax discrepancies

The Moldovan State Tax Service has identified significant discrepancies regarding the declaration of drivers in over 3.66 million taxi trips during the first half of 2026. These undeclared trips have a total estimated value exceeding 303 million lei.

Finance Minister Victoria Belous has warned taxi operators to correct their tax filings and settle outstanding obligations. Failure to comply will result in tax audits, fines, and penalties. The Minister noted that tax evasion is present in the sector, specifically citing instances where not all income and drivers are being declared.

Investigations revealed that 70 taxi companies showed differences of more than 20 drivers between National Agency for Auto Transport data and their tax declarations. Additionally, 81 operators were found to have imported services from Yandex without calculating or paying the required VAT.
