Moldova water networks lose up to 60% of supply in some localities

The National Agency for Regulation (ANRE) reported that water losses in the public distribution networks of regional operators in Moldova have reached as high as 60 % in certain localities. The agency highlighted this as a major problem for the sector, urging improvements in infrastructure and management to reduce wastage and protect public health.

The data were released on 30 July 2026 and underscore the need for investment and regulatory action to address the high loss rates affecting water availability for households and businesses.
