Romania and Moldova experience unseasonably warm Indian summer
Romania and Moldova are experiencing an unseasonably warm period, often referred to as an ‘Indian summer,’ with temperatures in some regions reaching up to 28 or 29 degrees Celsius. In Romania, the National Meteorological Administration (ANM) reports that while current temperatures are significantly above seasonal norms, a cooling trend is expected to begin around October 10-11.
Following this warm spell, temperatures in Romania are projected to drop, with rain and increased wind expected. For the period between October 12 and early November, most regions are expected to return to near-normal temperature and precipitation levels, though some areas may see higher-than-average rainfall in the extracarpathian and southern regions.
In Moldova, a similar warm air mass is driving temperatures above multi-year averages, with some areas seeing highs of 28 degrees Celsius. Meteorologists indicate that this trend will persist through the weekend before a cold atmospheric front causes temperatures to decrease starting around October 12, bringing more typical autumn conditions.
