Moldovan 18‑year‑olds to travel free by train across Europe from 2027

Starting in 2027, 18‑year‑old citizens and residents of the Republic of Moldova will be eligible for free train travel throughout Europe under the European Commission’s DiscoverEU programme. Eligible participants must register online during the spring or autumn application windows, provide identification, and confirm they are citizens or residents of an EU member state, associated territory, or a third country linked to Erasmus+. Successful applicants receive a travel permit valid on European rail networks and a European Youth Card offering discounts on cultural sites, local transport, accommodation and meals.

The next registration period runs from 1 – 15 October for those born between 1 January 2008 and 31 December 2008.
