Moldovan 7‑year‑old injured in Chalkidiki crash remains in intensive care

A multi‑vehicle collision on 15 July in Sithonia, Chalkidiki, Greece killed the parents (35 y/o father, 28 y/o mother) and a six‑month‑old sister of a Moldovan family. The sole survivor, a seven‑year‑old girl named Patrícia, was taken to the Ippokrateio Hospital in Thessaloniki and is being treated in the pediatric intensive‑care unit. Her condition is described as stable but critical; she remains intubated and doctors plan to attempt waking her and assess whether extubation is possible.

The girl’s aunt, Anna Katsiour, arrived from Moldova and is expected to assume guardianship. Repatriation of the bodies of the deceased family members to Moldova has already begun, with funeral services scheduled in Strășeni. At the same time, Moldovan honorary consul George Palaz expressed concern over fraudulent fundraising campaigns, warning donors to verify any bank‑account details with the embassy.

Greek authorities await the results of the forensic examination and autopsy to determine the cause of the crash. The incident has sparked local and international solidarity, while also highlighting the risk of fake donation scams targeting grieving families.
