Moldovan agricultural exports focus on grapes and walnuts

Moldova is seeing significant developments in its agricultural export sectors, specifically regarding grapes and walnuts. While the 2026 grape harvest is smaller than the previous year, producers report high quality, large berry sizes, and high sugar content. The Moldova grape variety remains a key export, benefiting from favorable weather and modern irrigation. Experts expect export volumes to remain stable, with the product's long shelf life and proximity to the European Union allowing for delivery within five days.

In the walnut sector, producers are aiming to double exports. In the Hîncești district, harvests have reached record levels, with some producers transitioning to the Chandler variety to meet international demand. Approximately 86% of Moldovan walnut exports are destined for the European market, including Germany. Producers are currently refining sorting, washing, and packaging processes to ensure optimal moisture levels and competitiveness in the EU market.
