Moldovan and Romanian Officials Resign Amid Personal and Professional Reasons

Tatiana Batin, a cousin of Moldova’s President Maia Sandu and chief of staff to Parliamentary President Igor Grosu, announced her resignation. President Sandu noted Batin had long served in the party before moving to the parliamentary cabinet and emphasized no pressure was applied. Batin’s husband, Constantin Batin, is under journalistic investigation for past commercial dealings with sanctioned businessman Marks Blats.

In Romania, singer‑artist Diana Matei stepped down from her long‑standing role in the Ministry of National Defence after nearly two decades. She cited an increasingly demanding schedule and a desire to spend more time with her family as primary reasons. Matei disclosed her earnings in the ministry were around 8,600 RON, varying with bonuses and project work, and described her duties involving performances for foreign delegations and official events.

Both resignations were announced on television programmes and reflect personal considerations influencing personnel changes within governmental institutions.
