Moldova border police intercept three Indian citizens attempting illegal crossing
Moldovan border authorities intercepted three Indian citizens near Semeni, Ungheni district, while they were attempting to cross the state border toward the Prut River. The individuals reportedly paid 4,000 euros to organize their illegal journey into the European Union via Romania.
Following an investigation by the Ungheni Prosecutor's Office and the Border Police, a Moldovan citizen was detained on suspicion of organizing illegal migration. The suspect was initially placed in preventive arrest for 30 days and is currently under house arrest. The individual is being investigated under Article 362¹ of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Moldova.
In separate regional incidents, Romanian authorities are conducting a large-scale search using helicopters for a 26-year-old Moldovan man who fled into a forested area in Mehedinți after abandoning a vehicle stolen from Bulgaria. Additionally, Russian forces have targeted border infrastructure in the Odesa region near the Orlivka crossing, causing a temporary suspension of ferry services to Isaccea, Romania.
