Moldovan Court Declares Ilan Șor‑Linked Eurasia Group Extremist

On 28 July, the Court of Appeal Centre in the Republic of Moldova classified the organization “Eurasia” as extremist after the Service of Information and Security (SIS) filed a request. The ruling placed Eurasia on the national register of extremist groups and warned that anyone collaborating with or financing the organization could face criminal prosecution under the penal code.

Eurasia, founded in April 2024 in Moscow by Nelli Parutenco, is linked to convicted politician Ilan Șor. The group has been sanctioned by the European Union for actions aimed at destabilising Moldova, including alleged interference in the 2024 electoral process, training of youths in electoral technologies, and organizing protest‑training camps in Bosnia‑and‑Herzegovina. SIS urged Moldovan citizens, including those abroad, to avoid any cooperation with the group.

The decision follows a year‑long legal process that began in the summer of 2023, reflecting heightened security concerns over pro‑Kremlin activities within Moldova.
