Moldovan diaspora reflects on home country's changes as political leader urges reality check

Victor Oleinic and his wife Ludmila Terentiev, who moved to Italy in 2000, have built a family there after 25 years in the country. In an interview they say Moldova has improved, but stress that a simple smile and friendly behaviour are essential for the nation’s image. They express hope of eventually returning to the Republic of Moldova, describing Italy as a second home while still feeling attached to their roots.

Separately, Victoria Furtună, president of the Moldova Mare political party, posted a message to Moldovans living abroad urging them to compare the promises made by officials with the current social and economic realities in Moldova. Her appeal highlights concerns over recent fiscal measures and the broader challenges facing the country’s citizens and businesses.
