Moldovan Education Minister Dan Perciun Says Party Will Choose Next Prime Minister

Education Minister Dan Perciun told reporters that the decision on who will become the next prime minister of the Republic of Moldova will be made by the party, not by him. He said a future premier must meet societal expectations, maintain a good relationship with the governing party, and be able to integrate organically into the party’s values and policies. Perciun outlined that the candidate should be ready to bring order to public finances, oversee territorial‑administrative reform, manage fiscal policy and restructure state enterprises.

He added that no discussions have taken place within the party or parliamentary faction regarding his own candidacy. The minister also referred to the recent resignation of Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu on 3 July, noting that the Action and Solidarity Party respects Munteanu’s decision and that any new appointment will depend on political negotiations and will aim for a balanced choice.
