Moldovan Environment Minister clarifies firewood inspection policy

Moldovan Environment Minister Gheorghe Hajder has issued a clarification regarding firewood inspections to reassure citizens. Following concerns that previous communications implied authorities might inspect private household woodpiles, Hajder stated that the recommendation for citizens to keep fiscal receipts or invoices is intended to track commercial sellers rather than monitor individual homes.

The Minister emphasized that law enforcement will focus on the entire supply chain, targeting illegal cutting, transport, and commercialization of wood. He assured the public that honest citizens who purchase firewood legally for heating purposes will not be targeted by these inspections.
