Moldovan Girl in Chalkidiki Shows Health Improvement After Fatal Crash

A 7‑year‑old girl from Moldova, the sole survivor of a deadly traffic collision on the provincial road Poligýrou–Agios Nikolaos in Chalkidiki, Greece, is reported to be gradually waking from a coma. Doctors have reduced her sedative medication and note that she is responding to environmental stimuli, raising hopes for full removal of her breathing tube in the coming days.

The child was transferred first to the Poligýrou Hospital, then to the Papageorgiou Hospital in Thessaloniki, where she underwent two lengthy surgeries for severe chest and femur injuries. Following the operations she was placed on a pediatric intensive‑care unit at the Hippokration Hospital. The crash claimed the lives of her parents and a six‑month‑old sister, while her father later died after critical care.

Medical staff indicate that if her condition continues to improve, complete extubation will be the next step.
