Moldovan Health Minister Emil Ceban orders urgent renovation of Bălţi hospital food block

After public images showed deplorable conditions in the food‑service block of the Bălţi Clinical Hospital, Health Minister Emil Ceban announced an immediate inspection of the facility. The minister allocated more than 500,000 lei for a comprehensive renovation project and ordered a zero‑tolerance policy toward any deviations from patient‑safety standards.

The hospital’s interim director Iurie Osoianu was dismissed and Vladimir Pascaru was appointed as the new interim manager, receiving direct instructions to improve management and quality controls. Ceban said the hospital must become a reference medical centre for northern Moldova and emphasized that proper financing depends on effective local management.
