Moldovan MP Marcel Spatari outlines EU integration benefits to counter disinformation
Marcel Spatari, president of the Parliamentary Commission for European Integration, said combating disinformation about Moldova’s EU accession is a top priority for the Parliament. He explained that the legislature is holding public hearings, consultations and local meetings to clarify what EU membership would entail for citizens.
Spatari refuted false claims that the EU has set aside a €100 million fund for media and civil society, noting that the money is part of projects already included in Moldova’s Growth Plan. He also rejected rumors that the EU would force Moldova to accept migrant quotas, stating, “Noi am migrat în Uniunea Europeană. Nu ne impune Uniunea Europeană.” According to him, adopting EU standards will improve product quality and expand market access for Moldovan producers, while clear, fact‑based communication is essential to maintain public support for integration.
