Moldovan official Anastasia Taburceanu earned over €10,000 monthly from dual government jobs

Anastasia Taburceanu, a cousin of President Maia Sandu, was employed simultaneously by the state‑owned air‑traffic services company MoldATSA and by Moldova’s State Chancellery. She received a monthly salary of €6,000 from MoldATSA and an additional €4,000 for providing communication services to the executive branch. The dual employment was disclosed by Dragoș Galbur, leader of the Moldovan National Party, and confirmed by the government’s press office, which said it had no access to the contract’s financial terms because the agreement was negotiated between donors and the contracted individual.

The EU Delegation in Moldova verified that Taburceanu worked under a “Reform Support Team” contract from October 2024 to June 2026, offering communication support to the State Chancellery and the prime minister’s office before resigning in June 2026. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is evaluating the contract’s implementation, with the European Commission awaiting the assessment’s outcome. An investigation by RISE Moldova reported that Taburceanu received more than one million lei in less than a year, roughly 120 000 lei per month in 2026. She told BANI MD that MoldATSA approached her for a communications specialist role after she could not locate a suitable candidate, leading her to accept the position.
