Moldovan Parliament extends state enterprise inquiry

In Moldova, the parliamentary inquiry commission investigating state enterprises has requested a one-week extension to finalize its report. Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu stated that deputies need additional time to examine the document and formulate recommendations following the expiration of the original deadline.

The upcoming report is expected to address the formation of boards of directors for state enterprises and the role of the Public Property Agency. Proposed changes may include legislative amendments regarding management accountability, specifically focusing on how to motivate profitable managers while addressing those who remain in office without generating profit. The inquiry was prompted by journalistic investigations into the management of public funds, including controversies surrounding high salaries and hiring practices at Moldatsa.

In Romania, the Senate's Constitutionality Commission has extended its investigation into a meeting between Constitutional Court President Simina Tănăsescu and interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan by one month. The delay is due to pending responses from the Constitutional Court and the absence of certain invited witnesses.
