Moldova Parliament approves new National Army structure
The Moldovan Parliament has approved a new general structure and personnel strength for the National Army. The decision was made during a closed-door session to protect state secrets from hostile nations, according to President Maia Sandu. Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatîi indicated that the military's size is expected to increase to better address current regional security threats, noting that personnel numbers had previously declined from over 9,000 to approximately 6,500 soldiers and 2,000 civilians.
In addition to military reforms, the Parliament passed legislation to reorganize the state enterprise 'Calea Ferată din Moldova' into a state-owned joint-stock company named 'CFM-Infra' to manage railway infrastructure. Lawmakers also approved stricter measures to combat poaching, which include introducing a mandatory hunting permit and increasing penalties for illegal hunting activities.
