Moldovan Parliament votes to establish mayoral cabinet for Bălți

The Moldovan Parliament has voted in the first reading on a legislative project to establish a dedicated cabinet for the mayor of Bălți. The initiative, proposed by the ‘Our Party’ (Partidul Nostru) parliamentary faction, aims to align the administrative structure of Bălți with that of the Chișinău general mayor.

Bălți is Moldova’s second-largest municipality and a major urban center in the northern development region. The proposed changes involve modifying laws regarding the status of personnel in the cabinets of public dignity officials and the unitary salary system in the budget sector. The new cabinet is intended to provide professional and operational assistance to the mayor to manage the city’s complex administrative responsibilities.

The cabinet will not function as a separate public authority and will not replace existing municipal structural subdivisions. The number of employees and the specific structure of the cabinet will be determined based on local administrative needs and available financial resources. Operating costs are to be covered by the Bălți municipal budget without additional transfers from the state budget.
