Moldovan pensioner reduces bills with EcoVoucher energy upgrade

Fiodor Stratulat, a pensioner from Chișinău, received a MDL 6,000 EcoVoucher from the Moldovan government, allowing his family to replace a 20‑year‑old washing machine with a new energy‑class A model. The voucher covered most of the MDL 9,000‑10,000 purchase price, so the family paid only about MDL 2,500, and the old appliance was collected for recycling.

The subsidy is part of the EcoVoucher programme, co‑financed by the European Union and managed by the National Centre for Sustainable Energy. Vouchers cover up to 70 % of the cost of efficient refrigerators or washing machines for eligible households, such as seniors and families with children. The new cohort of the programme, running 18 July‑2 August, aims to assist roughly 825 families in reducing electricity consumption and lowering monthly bills that had exceeded MDL 1,000.
