Moldovan students participate in human rights educational program

Students at the Gavriil Gaidarji Theoretical High School in Comrat participated in an educational initiative titled ‘Let us know, respect, and promote human rights’. The event involved representatives from the Ministry of Education and Research of Moldova, the General Directorate of Education of the UTA Gagauzia, and the United Nations Human Rights Office.

During the activity, students discussed topics including equality, discrimination, freedom of expression, and human dignity. They analyzed real-life scenarios to identify rights that must be upheld regardless of social or material conditions, while also discussing potential improvements for their school and society.

Ivan Duminica, head of the Interethnic Relations Policy Service at the Ministry of Education and Research, emphasized the goal of ensuring all children have access to quality education regardless of ethnicity or language. He noted that training programs are being organized to support teachers and allow children from national minority communities to study in their mother tongue. Tatiana Cernomoriț, a human rights officer from the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, added that respect for rights must be reflected in daily life to ensure every child feels heard, respected, and protected from discrimination.
