Moldovan trade unions propose Labor Code amendments

The National Confederation of Trade Unions of Moldova (CNSM) has proposed several amendments to the Labor Code aimed at strengthening employee rights and guarantees. Key proposals include increasing leave durations based on length of service and eliminating the probation period for young specialists during their first five years of employment in their field of study.

Additional proposals submitted to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection include ensuring employer non-interference in union activities and providing extra protections for elected union officials. The CNSM also reviewed a safety and health risk assessment guide for micro and small enterprises, which represent over 99% of reporting businesses in the country.

Regarding fiscal policy, the unions suggested increasing the personal tax exemption from 34,620 to 46,600 lei, adjusting exemptions for dependents, and revising capital gains taxation. They also advocated for expanding tax deductions for medical services, medications, and sanatorium treatments.
