Moldovan Vice Premier Valeriu Chiveri warns Transnistrian assets are state property

Vice Premier for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri told a government meeting on 5 August that the Republic of Moldova does not recognise any privatisation actions carried out by the separatist administration in Tiraspol. He stressed that assets listed for sale in the left‑bank region belong to the Moldovan state, not to private citizens such as apartment owners or landholders.

Chiveri warned potential investors that participating in such transactions carries significant legal and financial risks, advising them to weigh the costs carefully. He indicated that, as part of the gradual reintegration process, the authorities may take steps to restore ownership of these assets to the state. The statements came amid broader concerns about the legality of privatisation offers from the unrecognised Transnistrian authorities.
